Look here for what our guests say about their holiday here!

Thank you for a fantastic five days. Just what we both needed to relax and escape to this amazing place.

Looking forward to our return visit in April when it may not be so relaxing we we bring the kids!!

With our two children we enjoyed our stay here immensely.

Keywords: ho tub and watching stars, roasting almonds after picking them from the trees, cold (!) dip in the pool, BBQ.  Thank you for the experience!

I’ve put together a page with a sort of brief synopsis of places we visited in the hope that it might be of interest to others.  I have to say that it was a holiday which we’ll never forget, largely due very much to the lovely welcome we had – and also the knowledge that we could call on you if we needed any help ... and did I mention the hot tub???

We had such a fantastic time here. The only problem was that there wasn't enough of it. We will come back for much longer next time.

The welcome was warm and Alan and Colleen's enthusiasm is so infectious.

This place is heaven.

We had such a lovely time, you're a credit to the rental industry with your taste & attention to detail! Some of the other places we looked at looked so lovely outside, but looked like a set from Coronation Street indoors!
Here's hoping for a good year for all of us so we can come back next year!
Many Thanks again

What a fantastic setting to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Great sitting on the roof terrace overlooking the hills.

Had a relaxing time with a few trips out and about.
Sadly back to work on Monday!
Nice to have met you both. Thanks for letting us stay at Finca Cencerrita.

Thank you for making us feel really welcome to your beautiful house Cencerrita. We had a wonderful week, very relaxed, good weather, nice trips to El Chorro and El Torqual We made some walks around the house.

But the most important thing was relaxing at the pool, the mountains, the sunset, and the tranquillity. The wonderful views will be a memory for a long time. Thank you!

Thank you so much for two wonderful weeks in Cencerrita. We found the place a perfect mix between authentic and modern, hot and cold, north and south. And your way of making us feel welcome was an unexpected bonus. All four of us have enjoyed a peaceful vacation with lots of options for breathtaking sights, good food and wine etc.

We are quite certain that we will return, maybe a little bit off-season next time.

Till then: Take care of lovely Cencerrita for us!"

Dear Alan and Colleen and Every Guest that stays here! 1 BIG WELCOME

We booked for a few reasons: privacy/hot tub/swimming pool/seclusion ... Honeymoon should say it all ...

We've had a great time and have kept ourselves busy going out most days then relaxing in the spa in the evening.

Arrived 14th June

Just a couple of lines to express our thanks and gratitude for a wonderful holiday in your "little piece of heaven" called Cencerrita . From the moment I arrived to the sad morning of departure I have never been "so relaxed and refreshed " by a holiday in my whole life - and we have been on good few villa holidays in the past . Even now when I take a coffee break among the Laptops, Faxes, phones my mind wonders back to the beautiful extremely well equipped house , high above among the "eagles" and I smile to myself when I think of those "wacky" roads and the "hot Tub" late at night, and my co workers just look at me in wonder.
Your beautiful house catered for all ages and even my 24 yr old (sometimes grumpy daughter ) talks about the best holiday ever . Thanks again for a wonderful holiday and hopefully we can return again soon.

We are back in work, but feeling very relaxed after a great few days.
We really enjoyed ourselves, loved the house and the location was even nicer this time with all the spring flowers and colours. The birds were great to watch, especially the swallows and the odd eagle.
The spa tub was just perfect, as was the pool.
Will send you some flamingo pics soon, we've got some nice ones.

A couple of years ago we spent a week in the Pyrenees. High up on the hillside we met a monk who was staying in a retreat he said that he got his spirituality from the surrounding countryside. A couple of lines from the following poem comes to mind:

"What if this life so full of care

We have no time to stop and stare ..."

We have "drunk" in the surroundings but have also been busy as well! - Having to save the insects from the pool (many we are sure we have seen before!), watched the ants taking their catch back to their nests and the swallows drinking from the pool!  I have read "Anchored in Spain" (a must for all future guests) . Cencerrita has worked its magic on us. A great thank you to you both for making such a beautiful, tranquil retreat.

We just couldn't leave! Luckily for us Alan and Colleen came to our rescue as the Icelandic volcano has meant we are stranded Not only a roof over our heads but a rollercoaster ride up from Pizarra - through a river (no exaggeration), a laptop and great chat.  We leave hoping to catch a ferry from Caen knowing there are no other hosts quite like Alan and Colleen.  Heartfelt thanks - hoping you'll hear from us on Wednesday!  If ever a volcano (or anything else) strands you in Glasgow you know who to call!!

The sequel to the above ... Due to a strike on the French trains, Alan drove Caroline and Gregor to the French ports .. a round trip of 3940.4 Km ... this was neatly summed up in an email sent to us on their arrival home in Scotland: "Thanks again- talk about going the extra mile for guest satisfaction!"   No, problem - happy to help .. Preparation for volcanic ash in Uk

As we were flying back to England, Sam asked me, “what is your favourite memory of the holiday?” Gosh, I thought, how could I possibly choose one? So, I decided to make a list:

  • Arriving at the villa and looking up, for the first time, at the wonderfully clear starry sky.

  • The warm welcome from Alan and Colleen and delicious first meal in Spain.

  • The view from the kitchen window when making the first coffee of the day.

  • Walking for three and a half hours and seeing no one other than Spanish farmers working in their fields.

  • The herder who stopped his goats on the road so that he and they could have their photograph taken.

  • The abundance of brightly coloured wild flowers (I think that we have about three dozen different species captured on camera).

  • The heady aroma of native shrubs and herbs.

  • Splodging through the ‘dry riverbed’ which, because of an unusual amount of rain during the winter, had turned into a stream (walking boots an advantage).

  • Cresting the rise of a very steep track and marvelling at the panoramic view across the valley beyond.

  • Finding a sheltered spot to admire the view and eat a sweet, juicy Spanish orange.

  • Watching birds of prey, through binoculars, from the castle at Alora.

  • Lying on a sun lounger beside the pool, with the sun and breeze making the temperature just right (plenty of sun-screen required!).

  • A dip in the pool to cool off at the hottest times.

  • Watching the sun set behind the mountains from the comfort of the hot spa.

  • Eating perfectly barbequed fish (Dorado recommended).

  • Reading the amazing story of how Alan and Colleen acquired La Cencerrita and the many adventures they had turning it into the wonderful holiday home it is today.

  • Sitting in the evening watching old episodes of Columbo and Life on Mars.

  • Apart from two trips to the supermarket, having no contact with the outside world.

We had a wonderful week at La Cencerrita. That part of Spain is very special. Those of us who have an affinity with Celtic spirituality would call it a ‘thin place’, where heaven and earth seem very close together.

Alan and Colleen obviously love their finca and want their guests to love it. Well, we did and we do. We have already booked for next year.

Easter 2010

Just a note to wish you Happy Easter and tell you how much we enjoyed our third (but not last) stay at Cencerrita.  It's a wonderful escape in an ideal and beautiful location and your hard work in making it what it is is well worth it - for us anyway!  Also thanks so much for the delicious paella meal on our last day.
I was looking up the whole Semana Santa thing on the internet and apparently Malaga and Seville are the two main places in Andalusia for it so it was interesting to see it on TV while we were in Cencerrita. We really enjoyed our two nights in Malaga and would definitely go there again - it's nice to combine it with a stay at Cencerrita and so easy to transfer between both places and the airport.
We look forward to seeing you both, and Cencerrita, again.  We'd like to visit when the evenings should be warm enough to sit out late but at this stage it will probably be 2011 before we get around to it.  Meanwhile I'll put the ad up at work again and also tell my colleagues all about it.

We really enjoyed out time in your villa La Cencerrita!  Although the weather wasn't as it should be in Spain we had some spare moments in the sun and enjoyed the quietness, views, new year in front of the fine place. The rides on the dirt road were also unforgettable :)

Good luck for the future and hope to see you again while diving in the pool.

Select the business tab in the top left and just write "Cencerrita" and it takes you right to us! The roads drawn in white on Google earth should be taken "with a pinch of salt"- at least in our area - they are not particularly accurate.  For example, it shows a through road going right across Cencerrita - this, we can assure you, does not exist!!

We also laughed at the route Google gives you from Malaga Airport ... you wouldn't so much need a 4 x 4 as a helicopter! Don't worry though, we provide you with very precise directions ... which work!
