For a never-to-be forgotten Spanish holiday

Want to know more about Cencerrita?

Read the book!

Rural self-catering country villa to rent on an old almond and olive farm. A delightful Spanish holiday (vacation) accommodation, near Álora and Cártama, inland from Malaga, Andalusia countryside, Southern Spain. Sleeps 2 - 4 + child, 2 en-suite bedrooms, with a private pool and outdoor hot tub/spa/Jacuzzi. Whilst enjoying privacy and seclusion, remote from civilisation, you are not isolated at all: a 25 minute drive brings you to the local town, 45 minutes to the Costa del Sol and all its attractions and less than an hour to Malaga Airport. Primarily for those wanting to just relax and escape from it all, it is a perfect getaway for walking, rock climbing, painting, photographers, honeymoons, romantic couples, yoga, rambling, geo-caching and bird watching.

To Bring

We thought a few reminders of various items to pop in your suitcase wouldn't come amiss ....

bullet

Towels for the beach/swimming pool (We provide towels in your rooms, but ask that you use your own outside) Bed linen is provided.

bullet

We provide towelling gowns to put on after a spa but you need to bring some sandals to walk back to the house in wet feet.

bullet

Something warm to put on in the evening - It can get chilly - really!

bullet

Sunglasses with UV protection - essential in the mountains.

bullet

Sun tan lotions/creams/block to start you off - (on the whole you will find these cheaper in Spain) the mountain air will soon toast you more than expected!

bullet

Whilst on the subject of protection, don't forget a sunhat too

bullet

Mini First Aid Kit - medical items are amazingly cheap in Spain (well worth stocking up here), but your usual headache tablets, insect bite relief etc are comforting to have close by - particularly for children.  Also, don't forget any regular pills you have to take. It is not necessary to suffer itchy insect bites - there are inexpensive tablets - non-drowsy - available in Spain ... please ask for details if you are a magnet for insects!

bullet

The house has a tiled floor - whilst it is wonderful for keeping cool in summer, you may find slippers a boon at any other time!

bullet

Form E111 should a trip to the doctor's be necessary. Please note a new version is now required - credit card size!

bullet

Binoculars if you have them.

bullet

Camera - of course!

If shopping on the way to Cencerrita from the airport, a list may prove invaluable ... brains aren't always working too well after flying! (there are normally a few herbs, salt and pepper, washing up liquid etc).   You might like to take a look at our food and drink page for some suggestions. Food and Drink

  • Don't forget nice large, strong industrial size bin liners (we have no rubbish collection up here and you will need to take your rubbish down to the big public bins when you go out)

  • Charcoal for the BBQ

  • Drinking water. Our water is from our own bore hole 150 m down ... so it may come up nice and clean, but then it sits in the storage tanks.  Fine for cooking etc, but for actually drinking, we suggest bottled water.  We generally start you off with an 8 litre bottle filled from the town supply.

  • Also plenty of fluids to drink - particularly in the hotter months (and we don't mean wine!!)

  • There is a coffee machine here if you prefer filtered coffee (Filter papers, size 4)

bullet

Tea drinkers are advised to bring their own T Bags ... Spanish tea is variable!!!  However, in recent months they have started selling PG tips in the 40 bag size.

bullet

Smokers! Please be aware that the supermarkets in Spain don't sell tobacco products: instead they are sold in licensed government shops.  If you haven't already bought some on the plane, there is a "Tabaco"shop on the top floor of the parking at Malaga airport.  If all else fail, there are generally cigarette machines in the bars.
