For a never-to-be forgotten Spanish holiday

Rural self-catering country villa to rent on an old almond and olive farm. A delightful Spanish holiday (vacation) accommodation, near Álora and Cártama, inland from Malaga, Andalusia, Southern Spain. Sleeps 2 - 4 + child, 2 en-suite bedrooms, with a private pool and outdoor hot tub/spa/Jacuzzi. Whilst enjoying privacy and seclusion, remote from civilisation, you are not isolated at all: a 20 minute drive brings you to the local town, 45 minutes to the Costa del Sol and all its attractions and less than an hour to Malaga Airport. Perfect for walking, rock climbing, painting, photographers, honeymooners, romantic couples, yoga, rambling, bird watching and those wanting to just relax.

Trip to the Alhambra by the Smith family - 2005

"Wish to say the Alhambra was out of this world and you must visit if you haven't already done so. We stayed at the Hotel Alixares (AGAIN OUT OF THIS WORLD). The Hotel was decked out in Moorish style with its own swimming pool and was on the other side of the road to the Alhambra. We got two beautiful rooms which including breakfast cost us £120 for two nights. (This was the total bill and not per room - booked off the internet). The hotel was so posh and there was lots of Spanish weddings held there.

It was so easy to travel there and the motorways were empty. we followed signs for the Alhambra. When we approached the back of the hotel there were some Gypsy types ushering cars into the public car park (which they charged for). When we asked directions one of them said we were miles away. We thought they were official staff. One of them then jumped in his car and asked us to follow him (thinking we were lost we did) We backtracked where we had come from through the back streets and eventually arrived at the bottom end of the Hotel. He asked for 50 Euros. I refused and gave him 10.

I was happy with that but I don't think he was. Anyway surprise surprise if we had driven 300 yards past him we would've come to Hotel anyway. The Hotel does not have a car park but you park in the Official Alhambra car park and when you check out you get a discount. I think we paid 20 Euros ish for the two days which was good.

We went into Granada which was a great city. The Hotel is up the hill and a steep walk but there are buses up and down every few minutes. In the main town square we ate at a fabulous restaurant (on our last night we found it typical. I don't know what its called but its next door to the Gelato Italiano. The waiters wear gold shirts and the restaurant looks extremely posh. The service was first class, the food (brilliant) we had the set meal.

With expensive drinks etc and ice creams for the kids it didn't come to 60 Euros. I left my biggest tip (honestly) and we still had a cheap meal.

Highly recommended. "
